We want Alston out! African nations crying out loud

I am surprised that Africa has formed a united front in fighting one Phillip Alston who is now their sworn enemy.

SACK ALSTON!, that is the message the African nations are shouting to the United Nations, they have also attracted sympathy from Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Brazil which have at one time been at odds with the activities of UN special rapporteurs such as Alston.

Alston’s ongoing wrath from Africa came to the fore when he called for the sacking of the Kenya’s Attorney general and Police Commissioner over the much publicized extra judicial killings the country has witnessed in recent months.

Kenya’s security forces were forced to own up to the killings in a Geneva meeting recently but this was not to last, the blame game still goes on and Alston is said to have made a biased report after the 10 day tour to the country in which he implicated the police into the killings.

Is Alston guilty or not? That is the biggest question. In the Kenya’s case, even though his decision was rushed, I fully support this report. The police force is not innocent and as much as we would want to be left alone in dealing with our issues, some external force is required when it comes to matters touching the police force given the deeply rooted impunity suffocating its corridors.

I wish Egypt which is in the forefront calling for Alston’s dismissal would know the pain that families, relatives and friends are going through in seeking justice after their loved one’s execution by the police rifles.

In a strongly worded statement read to the United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday the African group represented by Egypt, expressed its displeasure at the conduct of the special rapporteur during his tour of duty in Kenya and the way he framed his final report on police executions.

Justice over such cases has remained elusive. African nations stand is questionable and the UN should not stoop too low.

We need security, and force is sometimes required to enforce it. Who raises a finger when innocent Kenyans are killed by gangs. Whose human rights are being protected?

Kenyans are interesting. Some people cannot build decent houses in their villages nor visit their villages during the day due to witchcraft yet they have the odosity to laugh at others. What is the difference between witchcraft and gangs. They all retard developments.

This professor may be mad. But amidst all madness, Kenya should see a sense in what he is saying. It would be very primitive to just deny for the sake. It doesnt make us look clever rather it makes us look stupid if we can not listen and heed to advise. Kenya needs reforms. We must own to that and show maturity.

If Alston had stuck to his brief his political scheme would have gone further.
