Why are people creating a big fuss about tribe now that Kenya will witness its fifth census since independence tonight, I wonder if it were some gifts being dispensed with varying qualities for different tribes how quick people would be to state their tribes and even clans.
Most Kenyans have vowed to omit the tribe query and state they are Kenyans, an issue that would strip off the Shs 7.4 billion exercise intended sense.
I fail to understand why Kenyans sometimes fall into political traps of the ‘heaven’ promising politicians who have thrown the tribe issues and census out of proportion. Census is an important issue that should be kept off any political dimension.
Can people for once stand up on their own feet, so what will happen If I answered the question as it should? Census in Kenya was first held in 1948 when Kenya was a British colony. The next head count was in 1962, one year before independence, followed by 1969. Since then there has been a census every 10 years. So you will go through this in 10 years time again, participate with a clean heart and sober mind.
Kenya’s population is expected to hit 40 million mark from 28.7 million recorded 10 years ago.
