Kenya's case gets to the hague

Kenyans must have gotten a sigh of relief with the news that Kofi Anan had handed over the envelope containing the names of those who fueled the post election violence to the International criminal Court.

As Anan puts it, justice delayed is justice denied, so this is the most vital step that Kenyans were looking forward to. By handing over the envelope to Moreno- Ocampo, Anan has showed how serious Kenyan leaders who have given the whole issue a political angle should treat the matter and form a special tribunal that will deal with the suspects.

The whole idea of going to the Hague must have rattled the suspects who in most occasions have resulted in dismissing the Waki report but now some sense must have been injected to their boastful nature by Anan’s act.

I do not think that Kenyans would mind a special tribunal since they would also want to stomach the idea of roasting and frying their own fish and this on the other hand will also restore some confidence in our judicial system. The trust that Kenyans bestowed on Anan who steered the country back to normalcy after the chaos can never be wasted by our selfish politicians who believe in gaining power through bloodshed.

The fact that even those displaced by the poll chaos are still desperate and living in camps is the more reason why ICC should also crack whip before its too late, we are two years away from the next election, how many more will be killed, maimed and displaced if the right action is not taken now?
