AL- Shabaab retaliates, 16 killed, AU chief among injured in Mogadishu

I have just been curious of the whole mess that has permanently become part of Somalia but my quest seems to be in futility since there is so limited rather contradicting info on the Internet the only source within my reach on Somalia.

I have now severally visited the CIA fact book just to have some more acquaintance but nothing adds up. Looking at the innocent children clinging on their mothers’ backs, others struggling to get some little attention from them in refugee camps in Kenya tells it all how worse off Somalia is, given the situations in the camps which is the only safe place for them to live.

Somalia war has now turned into a puzzle getting even more complicated by day, now the Somali insurgents have decided to retaliate by detonating two suicide car bombs at an African Union (AU) peacekeeping base in Mogadishu what the rebels called revenge for this week’s US killing of a top al Qaeda suspect.

Witnesses said AU troops had died, along with some Somalis who had been waiting for medical treatment at the AU base, but the number of casualties was not immediately clear.

It looked to be the worst attack on the peacekeepers since 11 Burundians were killed and 28 wounded in February by two suicide bombers — one in a car, one with a suicide vest — who infiltrated their base. It also followed one of the most violent months the city has seen in 20 years.

Western security agencies say lawless Somalia has become a safe haven for militants, including foreign jihadists, who are using it to plot attacks across the region and beyond.

Al Shabaab’s spokesman, Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage, said Thursday’s attacks were to avenge the death of Kenyan-born Salah Ali Saleh Nabhan, who was killed in southern Somalia on Monday during a raid by US special forces.

Thursday’s attack is likely to deter African nations including Nigeria and Djibouti that have agreed to send soldiers to reinforce the AU mission but have yet to do so.

We have wasted enough American lives in Somalia . All of the turmoil in Somalia will boil down on its own .

Hazem that was a little bit selfish though realistic, not only American lives but lets think of the innocent children as well men and women who have been robbed off the Godly given gift of life which is totally disregarded in the war torn Somalia, millions if not thousands have been reduced to paupers by selfish minds who most probably enjoy the game from the comfort of their mansions imbibing the most expensive liqours with high held necks for what they are capable of, TOO SAD ANYWAY.

This is a crisis that is going to get far worse before it will get better. Very sad and troubling.

It just unimaginable what trauma and unrest the people of Somalia have gone through those lucky to have escaped the jaws of war, if what we went through in Kenya during the post election chaos is naything to go by.
